Indian center reviewing 5 titles from Iranian cinema

The India Habitat Centre in New Delhi has opened a program to review Iranian cinema.

Starting on Sunday, September 3, the program has been slated to screen five movies by acclaimed Iranian filmmakers.

The movies are Ebrahim Hatamikia’s acclaimed political drama ‘Bodyguard’, ‘Sweet Taste of Imagination’ by Kamal Tabrizi, ‘Mazar Sharif’ by Hassan Barzideh, ‘Crazy Castle’ by Abolhassan Davoudi and ‘Where Are My Shoes?’ by Kioumars Pourahmad.

‘Bodyguard’, produced by Ehsan Mohammad-Hassani, reviews the story of a middle-aged bodyguard.

It chronicles the story of a middle-aged man who protects high-ranking political figures. He gets into trouble when a suicide bomber wearing an explosive vest approaches the vice president. He then has to evaluate the values that he sacrifices for.

‘Bodyguard’ has so far been shown in a number of countries, including Germany, Canada, Australia, Britain, Lebanon, Syria and Afghanistan.

‘Sweet Taste of Imagination’ is about an imaginative dreamer academician who falls in love with a student. Love story is endangered when a business competitor sets the professor up for unethical behavior.

‘Mazar-e Sharif’ narrates the story of the Taliban’s attack on the Iranian Consulate in Mazar-e Sharif, Afghanistan, in 1998 that resulted in the martyrdom of some Iranian diplomats.

Davoudi’s 115-minute ‘Crazy Castle’ narrates the story of a group of young people who are members of an online community.

They plan to meet each other at an event in a cafe in Tehran. One girl’s urgent need brings six of them together. What starts as a prank continues to unfold into a complicated situation, which reveals new aspects of each character.

‘Where Are My Shoes?’ is about a man who starts losing his memory to the point of Alzheimer after his wife and daughter lose touch with him.

The program, organized in collaboration with Iran’s cultural attaché in New Delhi, will run until September 12.
